If your kids are like mine then it is hard to get them to sit still at times let alone to hold an ice pack to their boo-boo.
I’ve even gone out and gotten those cute animal ones they make, but my kids just play with them.
Several years ago I saw in one of the parent’s magazine about using sauce packets from fast food places.
I tried it out and it has worked great. They are great for small fingers to hold and for small boo-boo’s.
Just put a packet (ex: ketchup) in the freezer for a few hours. (I recommend to have a few so there is always one that is ready to go). They don’t freeze solid. It feels more like an ice pop that just starting to melt and is mushy.
They are pliable to put on foreheads elbows, etc. When you are don’t you can refreeze it or toss. They are still cold to hold, so if you are in a hurry you can take a paper towel and wrap it up using a piece of tape to keep it on. That works great so the little fingers don’t get too cold to hold it. You can also sew a little sack for it, but I haven’t done that since the paper towel works for me.
So, next time you have an extra mustard to ketchup packet put it in the freezer. Hope fully you won’t need to use it, but if you do you can try it out.
Simple and free!!!
