Rainy day (again)

It's no longer cold, but this rain is getting in the way of doing things with the kids.  I had plans to take my son out for our favorite walks but instead of letting the rain keep us in I got smart and brought an umbrella.

We had a great time and it really never hurts to get a little muddy when you get to walk in woods that are this green with the new leaves coming out.  I will miss this part of Germany!
(the color was not boosted in these photos (except for the first one), it really is this green)

This week is teacher appreciation week at school. I needed some cute ideas to give something to the teachers each day.  This is a good excuse to FINALLY to do some things I have been "pinning".
This one was for Valentine's Day, but easily worked as a cute teacher gift.

Items needed:
cellophane bag
twist ties
ribbon
candy
shovels
labels

I made my own label, but the site I got the idea from has a really cute one with hearts for v-day.  I'm trying to figure out how to posted mine here for you to use if it ticked your fancy.  As soon as I figure it out I'll update this.Until then here is the link to where I got the idea from...got to give credit to where it's due. http://thefryfamilyblog.blogspot.de/2011/02/our-valentines-projects.html

Here is the finished product and the teachers loved it or at least they faked it really well ;)

Back to the drawing board

Today I tried to make Cappuccino Mocha Fudge for the first time. Only problem is I do not like coffee or anything remotely close to it. My husband, the coffee drinker, says the flavor is subtle but good. I should have made it when he was home. It's going to his work tomorrow, but will have to go back to the drawing board so it will be like you are eating the cappuccino.

Wow, once again no posts for a month.  A lot of little things going on and right now my car is in the shop (was towed this morning) so I have no excuses...today anyway.
This picture is late too.  I took this of my daughter Christmas day.  She looked so cute/funny in her storm trooper helmet running around with her star wars laser gun (whatever it's called).  This still makes my chuckle.

We finally have some snow.  The weather has been getting into the teens and negative at night.  So now it's warm enough to snow.  I'll try to get out later to get some pictures for those of you with too much sun on your hands right now.  Enjoy this wonderful Tuesday...oh and Happy Valentine's Day!!

Sunny Sunday

For a bit now It’s been cloudy and grey with the sun coming out every now and then.  The last two days have been sunny and WONDERFUL!!

It is still cold, but feeling the sun warming my skin turns on a light inside myself that I needed.

Here are just a few pictures I took today while soaking up the sun.

for little boo-boo's

If your kids are like mine then it is hard to get them to sit still at times let alone to hold an ice pack to their boo-boo.
I’ve even gone out and gotten those cute animal ones they make, but my kids just play with them.
Several years ago I saw in one of the parent’s magazine about using sauce packets from fast food places.
I tried it out and it has worked great.  They are great for small fingers to hold and for small boo-boo’s.
Just put a packet (ex: ketchup) in the freezer for a few hours.  (I recommend to have a few so there is always one that is ready to go). They don’t freeze solid.  It feels more like an ice pop that just starting to melt and is mushy.

They are pliable to put on foreheads elbows, etc.  When you are don’t you can refreeze it or toss.  They are still cold to hold, so if you are in a hurry you can take a paper towel and wrap it up using a piece of tape to keep it on.  That works great so the little fingers don’t get too cold to hold it.  You can also sew a little sack for it, but I haven’t done that since the paper towel works for me.

So, next time you have an extra mustard to ketchup packet put it in the freezer.  Hope fully you won’t need to use it, but if you do you can try it out.
Simple and free!!!
